We are Christians. We are Americans.

In the aftermath of the Brexit vote, we are reminded that political solutions will never galvanize the people of this world. Only Christ can. Yet we cannot entirely separate our expression of Christianity from our national/racial/political culture.

While the symbols of the flag and cross at times work in harmony, the two are not to be confused. Our cultural background is the vessel by which we carry the eternal universal Gospel. Pastor Phil explains how the Gospel was designed to enter different cultural vessels and find a home.

This sermon ends with Pastor Phil sharing his powerful encounter with black rights advocate the Rev. Dr. Kevin Cosby as he engaged in a cross-cultural conversation about race relations and what it means to be Christian in America.
