HOMECOMING: SEPTEMBER 27, 2015

The people must build a holy place for me so that I can live among them.
–Exodus 25:8

Building a holy place for God begins by taking an inward journey of reflection.  Preparing a way for the Lord means making straight paths for him in our own life, through repentance and turning to God in prayer.  But the ultimate goal is not just a personal relationship, but the formation of a community of faith as we come together as the body of Christ.

We invite you to come together with us and experience the communion of the Spirit and the fellowship of Christ’s church for our Homecoming on Sunday, September 27th.  Our day of worship and fellowship begins at our eleven o’clock worship service.  Guest Pastor Rev. Stanley Brown will be delivering the message for the service. Rev. Brown formerly served as youth minister at our church.  Since then, he was ordained by Memorial Baptist Church in Rocky Mount and served as pastor at several churches in the Rocky Mount area.  He continues to be a spiritual mentor to many who know and love him, and we are excited to have him bringing us the word of God.

Following worship, we will gather for a time of food and fellowship with a covered dish meal in our Family Life Center.  Try some of our local favorites and signature dishes, and then enjoy fellowship around the table.  Catch up and share stories with members and friends that you haven’t seen in a while.

Over the summer, we have been “building a holy place” for us to worship by addressing many urgent needs to our facilities.  Unplanned repairs included the total replacement of the AC unit in the family life center.  In order to preserve our building, we also repainted all external surfaces in need of attention.  This work is still unfinished.  We would like to continue with the painting project by including our steeple.  The columns in front of the church have been painted and repaired; however, the damage they sustained over the years is permanent.  They will need replacing in the next few years.  Our church has been raising money for a special building project fund so that we can continue to do these needed building improvements.

We hope that you will make plans to join us for this time of renewal on September 27th.  We look forward to seeing you.

In Christ,

Rev. Phillip Barton
