Sermon Preached on July 29, 2018.

Have you ever been to a rock concert and seen somebody crowd surfing? Maybe you’ve seen this done on TV. Somebody dives into the crowd from the stage and, even though they may weigh a lot, the person floats on the lifted hands of the crowd below. I wouldn’t have the nerve to try it. It would be my luck that they would part like the red sea when I jump, and I’d land on the floor.

Being ordained as a deacon through the laying on of hands is a lot like crowd surfing. You may not feel qualified to serve Christ; but through the laying on of hands, you are lifted up and carried where you need to be.

Listen as Pastor Phil reflects on what it means to become a deacon by turning to the calling of the first deacons as recorded in Acts 6:1-7.
