This reading of “Jesus Didn’t Need to Listen” is a sermon that was originally preached at Dortches Baptist Church on August 24, 2015.

By looking at John 5:1-9, Rev. Phillip Barton pays special attention to how Jesus asks questions and listens carefully to the response from the lame man.  Strangely enough, in other places in John’s Gospel, Jesus seems to have special knowledge about a person that could only come from his unique relationship with the Father.  He knows things before he is told, and doesn’t need to ask questions to discover new information about a person.

In light of this observation, why does Jesus also engage people throughout the gospel with questions and listen intently to their response?  Find out by watching “Jesus Didn’t Need to Listen.”
