“When you reach the edge of the Jordan’s waters, go and stand in the river” – Joshua 3:8. The Israelites stood at the waters edge peering over into the promised land. They did not know that God was prepared to deliver them miraculously to the other side. God instructed them to trust enough to put their feet in the water, and he would make a way.
Whatever obstacle in life that stands before you, God has gone ahead of you to prepare the way. We just have to have the faith and courage to dip our toe in the water.
Jesus began his own ministry by crossing the Jordan through baptism. We are called to step into that same narrative and tradition, to be baptized as we proclaim that Christ has gone on ahead of us.
